Game modes
Pick the mode that matches your mood — from the familiar to the chaotic.
Classic
The original experience. Swipe to merge tiles of the same value and chase the highest score. Simple rules, endless replay.
Time Bomb
Bombs appear on the board with a countdown. Defuse them by merging before the timer hits zero — or watch them explode in a cross pattern, wiping nearby tiles.
Freeze
Frozen tiles lock in place and consume any tile of the same value that slides into them. Plan your moves carefully or lose precious tiles.
Elements
Bombs and frozen tiles appear together. When a bomb explodes next to a frozen tile, they neutralize each other. Master the interactions to survive longer.
Frequently asked questions
How do I play?
Swipe up, down, left or right to slide all tiles in that direction. When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one with double the value. Keep merging to build higher tiles and increase your score. The game ends when the board is full and no more moves are possible.
What is the AI solver and how does it work?
The AI solver uses an Expectimax search algorithm to look several moves ahead and pick the best option on your current board. It does not cheat — it sees only what you see. You can let it autoplay a full game or request a single-move hint when you're stuck.
What is the difference between the free and Pro versions?
The free version lets you enjoy all four game modes. Almost 4096 Pro — a single one-time purchase, no subscriptions — unlocks unlimited undo, the AI solver, single-move hints and all 10 themes.
How do I restore my Pro purchase on a new device?
Open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore Purchases". As long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase, your Pro unlock will be restored at no extra cost.
Do my progress and settings sync across devices?
Yes. Almost 4096 uses iCloud to keep your best scores, preferred theme and settings in sync across all your Apple devices signed in with the same Apple ID. Make sure iCloud Drive is enabled in your device settings.
Why am I not seeing my achievements on Game Center?
Achievements are awarded the moment you hit the corresponding tile value in any game mode. If Game Center is disabled on your device, or you are signed out, achievements will not appear. Check Settings → Game Center and make sure you are signed in.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Almost 4096 runs entirely offline. An internet connection is only required for Game Center leaderboards, achievements, iCloud sync and the optional Pro purchase.
Does Almost 4096 work on Mac?
Yes. Almost 4096 is available on iPhone, iPad and Mac (via Mac Catalyst). The same Pro purchase unlocks the app on all your devices.
Does the app collect any personal data?
No. Almost 4096 requires no account, shows no ads and does not integrate any analytics or tracking. See the Privacy Policy below for details.
Troubleshooting
A few quick checks that resolve most common issues:
- If the app crashes on launch, force-quit it and reopen. If the issue persists, restart your device.
- If your progress or high scores are not syncing, make sure iCloud Drive is enabled and you are signed in with the same Apple ID on all devices (Settings → your name → iCloud).
- If Game Center achievements or leaderboards do not appear, check Settings → Game Center and make sure you are signed in.
- If "Restore Purchases" does not unlock Pro, verify you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase and that the device is connected to the internet.
- If the AI solver plays unexpected moves, remember it is optimized for long-term survival — sometimes a "safer" move is picked over an immediate merge.
- If something still does not work as expected, contact support — include your device model, iOS/macOS version, the game mode and a short description of the issue.
