How does BeachDay know my skin type?

Accepted Answer

A short three-step onboarding quiz asks about your skin tone, how your skin reacts to sun, and your natural hair colour. BeachDay maps the answers to the dermatology-standard Fitzpatrick scale (Type I–VI), which then drives the sunburn countdown. You can retake the quiz any time from Settings.

Why does BeachDay need my location?

Accepted Answer

Your location is used only to show beaches near you on the Home tab and to compute the live UV index for where you are. Nothing leaves your iPhone. If you'd rather not share your location, you can still browse the map and search any beach manually.

Does BeachDay work without internet?

Accepted Answer

The full beach database — 22,000+ entries — is bundled with the app, so search and map work offline. UV forecasts (Apple WeatherKit) and Wikimedia beach photos require a connection.

What happens to my data?

Nothing. BeachDay collects no personal data, requires no account, includes no analytics or tracking. The only network calls go to Apple WeatherKit (for UV) and Wikimedia Commons (for beach photos).

Can I use BeachDay outside the Mediterranean?

Today the Blue Flag list and EEA Bathing Water data shipped with the app cover Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Portugal and Croatia. The sun safety features (countdown, reapply reminder, UV banner) work anywhere your iPhone has a UV reading from Apple WeatherKit.

How often is the Blue Flag list updated?

The FEE publishes the official Blue Flag list each year in early May. BeachDay refreshes its bundled list with the new year's data shortly after publication.
