What is Watora and what does it do?

It shows the official spot price published by ENTSO-E (the EU Transparency Platform) next to your real supplier tariff, so you can see exactly when energy is actually cheap on the market and how much you pay above (or below) that price. It adds a personal photovoltaic forecast, smart timing suggestions for appliances and electric vehicles, and seven widget formats. Free for the core transparency, with an optional one-time Pro unlock for personal PV, smart devices and advanced notifications.

The core experience is free: live ENTSO-E spot price, tariff overlay, 48-hour forecast chart, weekly heatmap, three Home Screen widgets and a daily summary notification. A single one-time Watora Pro purchase (€4.99) unlocks personal PV forecast and history, smart device profiles, the EV mode, actionable Pro notifications, the large and Lock Screen widgets, 365-day statistics and CSV export. No subscription, no ads.

Where does the price data come from?

Watora reads the day-ahead spot prices directly from the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform — the official source published by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity. This is the same wholesale price that is referenced by national markets (PUN in Italy, PVPC in Spain, EPEX in Germany, RTE in France, and so on). Watora does not invent or markup the price.

Why is Watora's price different from my bill?

The ENTSO-E spot price is the wholesale market price. Your bill includes supplier margins, system charges, taxes, VAT and possibly the structure of your contract (time-of-use, fixed, dynamic). When you declare your tariff in onboarding, Watora overlays it on the market price so you can see both: the neutral market reality and what you actually pay. The delta is the gap your supplier and the system charge.

Do I need to enter my tariff?

Accepted Answer

No. If you skip the tariff step, Watora still works and shows you the pure ENTSO-E spot price. Adding your tariff (fixed monohourly, multi-band time-of-use, or dynamic with a supplier spread) is what enables the delta visualisation, the cost comparison on appliance windows and the educational "Your bands vs the market" view.

Does Watora work without a solar PV system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The PV setup is optional and skippable. Without a PV system, Watora is still useful for shifting consumption toward cheap grid hours and seeing the real cost of electricity. If you enable PV, Watora layers your expected daily and weekly production on top of the price chart and highlights sweet spots when sun is strong and grid is cheap simultaneously.

Does Watora work in my country?

Watora covers all ENTSO-E bidding zones: the 7 Italian GME zones, France, Germany-Luxembourg, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Austria and Switzerland. The app is fully localised in Italian, English, French, Spanish and German. Tariff presets are tuned per country: Italian bioraria/trifasce, Spanish PVPC tarifa 2.0TD, French HC/HP post-Nov 2025 reform, German HT/NT, generic day/night fallback.

How private is Watora? What data does it collect?

Accepted Answer

None. Watora is 100% on-device. No account, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs. The only network calls go to ENTSO-E (public day-ahead prices), Apple WeatherKit (for the personal PV forecast and cloud cover) and Open-Meteo (fallback for irradiance if WeatherKit is unavailable). Your tariff, your PV profile, your appliance profiles and your usage history stay on your iPhone.

Can Watora help me decide if a dynamic tariff is worth switching to?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The "Your bands vs the market" educational view (Settings → Your bands vs the market) overlays your time-of-use bands on the real ENTSO-E spot for the next 24 hours, computes how often you pay above the market and shows an estimated potential saving if you were on a passthrough dynamic tariff. It does not promote any provider — the choice stays with you.
